Guthi Australia welcomes you to take part in the ‘Manly Walk for Human Rights 2010’ – 18th of December (12 noon- 3pm)

As you are aware, the injustice to basic human rights is a harsh reality that many often do not consider or give any thought to. On the 18th of Dec, a ‘Walk for Human Rights’ will be held in Manly to raise awareness for those who are severely persecuted around the globe on a daily basis. Basic civil, political, cultural, economic and social rights are denied to hundreds of thousands. The ‘Walk for Human Rights’ will be part of the wider commemoration of ‘World Human Rights Day’, held annually on December the 10th. It marks the foundation of the United Nations’ ‘Declaration of Human Rights’ in 1948. ‘All human beings are born equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and Conscience and should act towards each other in the spirit of brotherhood’ – Article 1

Representatives of the Tibetan, Uyghur, Falun Gong and supporters will assemble at Manly Wharf at 12 noon. The walk will then proceed down the St Matthews Church side of the Corso, along South Steyne to MLSC (Manly Surf Club) returning to The John Speight Corso stage, where a peaceful gathering will be held.

This event is essential to raise awareness to the severity and depth of the atrocities occurring and to illustrate that there is only a joyless existence for many around the world.

This year the speaker on behalf of the Nepalese community, Mr Ramesh Pandey will talk about human rights issues in Nepal. Three dance performances from the Nepalese community have also already been finalized and the following individuals will be co-ordinating and/or performing each dance – Archana Shrestha, Bona Rai and Sima Chhetri.

Guthi Australia would like to invite you to be part of this very worthy cause! It would be great to see as many of you there as possible along with your Nepali flags, stickers, and anything else that you might find will help identify us as Nepalese!!
