A small but a cheerful team from Guthi Australia participated in the The City of Canterbury Community Tree Planting Days initiative that took place this Saturday, the 28th of November 2009, at Jubilee Reserve, Bellevue Street, Lakemba. The target of planting 60 trees was met by Canterbury City Council with a collective effort from individual families, Guthi Australia team and others. The community tree planting initiative took place from 9am to 12 noon.
The Canterbury City Council did a wonderful job in making sure that the task was made more easy for the participants. Gardening equipments such as gloves, shovel, gardening knives etc were provided. The site for each tree plantation had been dug out, ready for a new tree to be “rooted in”. While the temperatures were rising, chilled water and cold drinks provided by the council were a boon to the participants of the program.
